Family First: Fire Safety in the Home (free presentation)
Would you know what to do if a fire started in your home?  Would your kids? Do you have a fire escape plan?  The best way to practice fire safety is to make sure a fire doesn’t break out in the first place.  However, accidents happen and teaching children about fire safety in a way that does not frighten them is very important.  Help them understand not only how to prevent fires, but what to do if there is a fire.

Fire safety in the home is an ongoing priority for the Saanich Fire Department we welcome an opportunity to meet with your organization or residents. Our presentation covers the following areas:

  • Home escape planning
  • Smoke alarms
  • Burns – Stop, Drop, and Roll
  • Reporting an Emergency
  • Electrical appliances, outlets and cords
  • Kitchen/Cooking safety
  • Portable heaters
  • Candles, matches and lighters
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Carbon monoxide

On average, presentations last 30 – 45 minutes, but can be tailored to meet the needs of your group or time constraints.  To schedule a presentation, or for more information please call me directly at (250) 475-5578 or email to jerry.tomljenovic[at]saanich.ca.
